I continue to explore California’s open spaces in my paintings.  I am interested in fields that are farmed or left untouched.  What I want to record are the places in California that are not built upon, where our food is grown, where water naturally stands, where livestock graze. Seasons change, fields go from green to golden, crops rotate, and farming methods are changing to organic.  In these places we see our past, we see where our food comes from, and we see hope for our future.
My new body of work comes from spending half my time now in the Monterey Bay Area.  I am working on “Ocean Memory” paintings which are strongly abstracted using liquid acrylic paints. They are very spare, atmospheric and peaceful.
